Selling images to the Instagram generation.

Each month I submit photos to De Mello Palheta Coffee Roasters for their social media use.

They compensate me for my work, and they are then free to use the images as they wish.

Lately, the new De Mello curator has been libearally applying Instagram filter effects to said images.

Case in point…

  3. Oh, I can guess all right! I mean, for goodness sakes, Instagram filters do not add anything to the photo. It’s just a pointless option to make people feel like they made a useful decision. And filtered photos actually do not get as much engagement as straight ones. They’re ugly, too.

    • The thing is, most people (even people who frequent this site!) view photos on the small-ish screens of their smartphone, where bold/contrasty/saturated photos tend to stand out more than they’re less flashy brethren. So, I “get it”… I just don’t like it.
