↑Leica M9 and Leica 75mm Summilux @ f/1.4.
What a perfect shot! I marvel at how you can both deal manually with such a narrow depth of field and capture always the critical moment. This is Roy Hobbs as a kid. Beautiful.
As I’ve written previously, it’s a little hit-and-miss with the 75 @ f/1.4. Here I was lucky, as I positioned myself just in time to get this shot (and the spontaneous hat adjustment was a bonus) before the ball was hit a split second later. I only had time to take a single frame, and fortunately I nailed the focus.
As an aside, you can tell the kids haven’t quite learned that they need to spread out when fielding…
Ha… fielding!? I thought they were lined up for introductions and he was tipping his cap.
Great shot…I really like the manner in which this lens renders the out of focus areas of an image.
Lovely shot…do you only ever shoot wide open?
Yes, unless it’s too bright outside and I don’t have an ND filter.
